About me

I am a Software Development Engineer in Test at Microsoft. My specific team creates and maintains internal tools for the TabletPC and Laptop teams. Aside from enjoying the specific work I do, the group I work with is superb.

Before Microsoft I attended New Mexico Tech, where I received my BS in Computer Science. I moved from New Mexico to Washington at the very end of 2004. I now live with the most important person in my life, Dan Driscoll, and our two cats: Aleph and Fifo.

Living in Washington there are so many fun things to do I don't know when they will all get done. Here are a few places I have been to at least twice: Museum of flight, zoo, symphony, breweries, waterfalls, EMP. The list goes on, and that doesn't include all the parties and get-togethers our friends have.

There are many random things I enjoy doing, but I wouldn't call them hobbies. Working out at the gym is more of something that I do rather than a hobby. I also enjoy cooking although I have slightly strange eating habits. I do not eat wheat flour or any added sugar or sweeteners. It is a bit hard shopping for food or eating out, but food is better for you and tastes better without the unnecessary ingredients.

What this blog is to me

More than anything it is a place for me to write. I am not a person that has historically enjoyed writing, nor does it act as a great release for me. The reason I write is much more for personal growth. Since I have never considered myself a writer, this is how I am changing my view. I believe writing is simply a part of almost any professional career and I would rather work on my skills before I am in dire need. Through practice I hope to naturally improve. In addition, I think having the discipline to commit to something everyday when there is no actual obligation is also great self work in my opinion.

Aside from personal growth there are other benefits for me to write in this journal. Since starting, it has also become a point of bonding for Dan and me. We both post to our journals everyday. Usually we do so at the same time. We each post for different reasons, but we both respect the others personal commitments. In a way, we have the same individual hobby.

The other important factor is sharing a piece of my life and mind with anyone who has interest. My friends mean very much to me. As much as I would like to I just don't get to see (or talk to) each of you often enough. I don't write a huge amount of personal information or daily recaps. Still, the things I write are about things in my life, from my perspective. In general, this is my way of keeping you up to date.
