What to buy?

I've been keeping an eye on eBay when I have an afternoon off. The list keeps growing and growing, but here is a presumably exhaustive list of cars that I wouldn't at all mind driving.

  • Acura RSX Type-S
  • Audi Turbo Quattro Coupe
  • Austin/Morris Mini
  • BMW 325is, 328is
  • BMW 850i/850CSi
  • BMW Isetta
  • BMW M5 E34
  • Citroën ... anything, really
  • Datsun 240Z
  • De Lorean DMC-12
  • Dodge Ramcharger
  • Fiat X1/9
  • Honda CRX Si
  • Honda Prelude Si 1990-1992
  • Isuzu Impulse RS
  • Jaguar XKE/E-Type
  • Jaguar XJS (primarily for shits)
  • Lexus SC 300
  • Lotus Europa
  • Mazda RX-7 2nd gen Turbo/3rd gen
  • Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4/Dodge Stealth RS TT
  • Mitsubishi Eclipse/Eagle Talon/Plymouth Laser Turbo AWD
  • Mitsubishi Galant VR-4
  • Nissan 240SX
  • Porsche 911 (911/930)
  • Porsche 914
  • Subaru XT/XT6
  • Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60
  • Toyota MR2 Spyder
  • Toyota Supra MkIII Turbo
  • Triumph TR6
  • Triumph TR7/TR8
  • Volkswagen Corrado SLC
  • Volvo P1800
  • Volvo 240 Turbo

Models in bold would fulfill the highway/touring need, whereas models in italics would be trashy beaters, much like my Scirocco is now.

Yow. That's a hell of a list, but it's really everything I can think of.

Looking over this excellent list of cars, I wanted to note a couple of things about the 3000GT VR-4/Stealth RS/TT:

1. It's a totally sweet car
2. In spite of it's piggy weight (more than a MKIV Supra! Gasp!), it REALLY moves well on an autox course
3. They are very complex, and pretty hard to work on (so it's expensive to have other people do the work, or a pain in the ass to do it yourself)

Just something to note, as it's way to late for me to be up perusing your car wish list, and felt i had to add something to make it look like i'm actually up for a reason.
